Yoga as play – gentle ways teaching yoga to children
In ever increasing fast paced society children suffer from tension and stress related imbalances, attention deficit, challenges in concentration abilities, hyperactivity, and other sensory difficulties.
Through Yoga as Play children even as young as 3 years are gently introduced to yoga exercises.
Children have significant hormonal changes and yoga can help make these difficult times more manageable by balancing their glandular function and thus harmonizing their emotions.

All the exercises are taught in the spirit of energy-assimilation, supporting nice temperament, graceful gestures, upright body posture, flexible and balanced large and small motor movement, and good coordination of sensory and motor organs.
The skeletal and muscular systems continue to develop in the young child and yoga helps to promote greater strength and resiliency in these body organs.

For the respiratory challenged child, instruction and coaching in the proper breathing technique as recommended by physicians as well can contribute to better all round health and boost the appropriate development of the immune system.
Yoga postures continue to have a soothing effect on the nervous system. The joy and laughter from having fun with friends is stress relieving and calming to the spirit.

Young children also enjoy the infinite creative possibilities in creating new yoga postures, utilizing the left and right hemispheres of the brain.
Self esteem is fortified as children feel good about themselves in the exploration of new physical challenges. With their newfound yogic accomplishment comes the positive acknowledgement of their specialties and uniqueness.
